Kiddie Lane’s philosophy is that children learn best through meaningful play that encourages curiosity, discovery and problem solving while fostering individual growth and development of a positive self-image.
While there is no single clear definition of 'PLAY', researchers agree that play is essential to children’s development and learning across cultures. Therefore, the play-based, child-centered program at Kiddie Lane focuses on the integration of physical, cognitive, social, emotional, language and self-help experiences for the development of the child as a whole.
With this understanding, the faculty and administration at Kiddie Lane have strategically designed our classrooms to include a minimum of five learning centers or activity stations. Each station is stocked with the appropriate toys and materials to keep the children actively engaged and challenged. These materials include: blocks, puzzles, games, animal figures, baby dolls, puppets, art supplies, books, poster, musical instruments and more.
Wisconsin Model Early Learning Standards (WMELS)

- Language Development & Communication is supported in the reading and writing learning centers and encourages early literacy.
- Approaches to Learning is supported through music, movement, drama and art (creativity and imagination).
- Health & Physical Development support large and small motor activities.
- Cognition & General Knowledge support Science, discovery, and problem solving, mathematical thinking and scientific thinking.
- Cultural Diversity supports emotional development, self-concept and social competence.
