The bridge between the child care facility and home is the involvement of family. At Kiddie Lane, we recognize that parents are the child’s first teachers and that children learn best when parents are involved in their education experience.
We encourage parents to share their talents, skills, family traditions and culture with their children as well as the staff. Kiddie Lane schedules parent/teacher conferences two or more times per year to discuss each child’s portfolios, observations, assessments, developmental milestones and any areas of concern.
These exchanges between teachers and parents are a means to support the parents to ask for their input it relates to their child’s care and education. Sharing what has been learned about a child’s development, interests and personality through observation and documentation is an important step in building a trusting and open relationship with families that work for the benefit of the child.
